About the Farm

We are a small farm on the sides of the St Bees Valley we are life-long members of Cumbria Wildlife Trust and the Rare Breeds Survival Trust.

The farm is based on 80 breeding sheep including Rare Breed Portland, Kerry Hill and Manx Logthan plus 15 Beef Shorthorn Cows. We have a variety of hens, ducks, 3 dogs ( Louie,Ella and our new dog Jim), 2 donkeys (Florence and her son Duke) and Poppy the cat.

We have planted 5 acres of native woodland and were part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme with a special project to encourage waders in our bottom field. This winter we have lapwing and snipe. We farm with no artificial fertilisers and minimise the use of artificial chemicals.

This has led to an abundant range of wildlife on the farm ranging from Roe Deer, Foxes, Bats, Tawny Owls to butterflies and moths.
