About us

We are life-long members of Cumbria Wildlife Trust and the Rare Breeds Survival Trust.

In 1991 we bought 24 acres at High Walton (against the advice of our accountant) with our two daughters then aged 7 and 4.
We now farm 50 acres. The farm is based on 50 breeding sheep including Rare Breed Portland and Manx Logthan plus 20 Beef Shorthorn Cows. We have a variety of hens, ducks, 3 dogs (Jaz, Louie and their daughter Ella), 2 donkeys and 2 boys.
We have planted 5 acres of native woodland and are part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme with a special project to encourage waders in our bottom field. We farm with no artificial fertilisers and minimise the use of artificial chemicals.

This has led to an abundant range of wildlife on the farm, ranging from Roe Deer, Foxes, Badgers, Bats and Tawny Owls to Butterflies and Moths.
